The people and ideas behind the workSoftware, design, product thinking, and a shared love of problem-solving.

Where it began

Built from curiosity. Driven by better answers.

Southforge Labs grew from a familiar frustration: finding software that almost did what was needed, but left too many rough edges, missing pieces, or unnecessary steps.

Founder Jeff Brigman brought years of hands-on technical work to that problem. His background in electromechanical engineering and industrial controls automation shaped an approach built around understanding systems, tracing the cause of a problem, and improving what matters.

Jeff began developing for the web around 2000. By approximately 2010, the ideas and projects that would eventually become Southforge Labs were already taking shape. In 2026, Southforge Labs became an officially founded company.

Today, the focus is broader than any one tool or platform: create useful, dependable software that respects the people using it, and keep learning as the technology evolves.

Our guiding questionThere has to be a better way. Sometimes that means improving an existing workflow; sometimes it means building something new.

How we got here

A long road of building and rethinking.

The company is young, but the work and curiosity behind it have been developing for years.

Around 2000

The web takes hold

Jeff moves from a lifelong interest in technology and reverse engineering into hand-coded websites, HTML, and software experimentation.

Around 2010

The groundwork begins

The ongoing effort behind Southforge Labs develops through projects, experiments, and solutions to everyday software limitations.

2026

Southforge Labs is founded

The work takes on an official company identity, bringing multiple products and ideas together under one name.

Looking ahead

Beyond one platform

WordPress remains important, while our ambitions extend to applications, modular tools, and new digital creation experiences.

What we build

How we work

Thoughtful software. Less friction.

Good software should make work easier, not give people another system to fight with. These principles shape the way we think about every project.

Start with the problem

Real workflows reveal the friction that feature lists miss. We look at what's getting in the way before deciding what to build.

Power without clutter

Advanced tools can still have sensible defaults, clear navigation, and thoughtful interfaces that don't overwhelm people.

Build to improve

Performance, maintainability, and flexibility matter. We keep learning, testing, and revisiting choices when a better approach emerges.

Meet the team

Different strengths. One shared mindset.

Software is about more than code. Product planning, engineering, design, and helpful support each bring something important to the experience we're trying to create.

More than the work

Good ideas come from real life.

Behind every problem worth solving are people with lives beyond their screens. Family, hobbies, fresh air, coffee, and the occasional chance to unplug all help keep the work in perspective.

Southforge Labs is rooted in East Tennessee, where the Smoky Mountains are a reminder that there's a much bigger world beyond our next release.

A note from our founder

“I don't want to build software just because it can be built. I want to build things that make the work better.”

It's the mindset that started the projects behind Southforge Labs, and the one that continues to guide what comes next.

Curiosity brought us here. Practical problems keep the ideas coming.
